The jury for the Canary Islands Tourism Awards—chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León—has unanimously decided in favor of EL GRIFO in the Tourism Excellence category. The recognition comes in the year the winery celebrates its 250th anniversary, consolidating its position as the oldest winery in the archipelago and one of the ten oldest in Spain.
Among the milestones valued by the jury are:
-
The pioneering incorporation of stainless steel tanks in the 1980s
-
Production with 60% solar energy , CO₂ recovery and regenerative viticulture
-
The conservation of native varieties and the launch of the Wine Museum , visited by more than 100,000 people a year
This award endorses our commitment to heroic viticulture, technological innovation, and respect for the volcanic landscape of La Geria. It also encourages us to continue integrating tourism and wine through authentic and sustainable experiences.
The official ceremony was held on September 25th at the Teatro Circo de Marte in La Palma, where our winery will share the stage with other Canarian projects distinguished for their innovation, sustainability, and accessibility.
