We are delighted to announce two gold medals at Mundus Vini 2026, one of the most prestigious and demanding wine competitions in the world.
Held annually in Germany, Mundus Vini brings together more than 200 international judges — winemakers, sommeliers and specialist journalists — who blind-taste thousands of wines from around the world. A gold medal at this competition is an objective validation of quality on a global scale.
The awarded wines are Lías 2023 and Seco Colección 2025, both made from Malvasía Volcánica, the signature grape of Lanzarote, and together they tell a story about what EL GRIFO is building.
Seco Colección 2025 is a fresh, vibrant and approachable young wine that upholds a well-established tradition: producing high-quality Malvasía Volcánica to be enjoyed now. It is one of our most appreciated wines among customers and restaurateurs, and this gold confirms that standard has not dropped by a single measure.
Lías 2023 points in a different direction. This vintage is fermented in tank and spends 12 months aging on its lees, also in tank, before completing approximately six additional months in bottle. Nearly two years of production before release — a wine designed to evolve and gain complexity over time. With it, EL GRIFO stands behind something we have been working towards for years: that the volcanic terroir of Lanzarote — its natural acidity, its minerality, the tension of a grape grown in extreme conditions — has the potential to produce age-worthy whites comparable to the great Atlantic wines of Europe.
Two golds at Mundus Vini, two different wines, one message: Lanzarote makes great wines — and increasingly, wines built for time.
Both wines are available in our online store and at the winery.
