The Province echoes the distinction that the Government of the Canary Islands has awarded our winery, one of the ten oldest in Spain, with the 2025 Tourism Excellence Award . This award recognizes our role as a benchmark in wine tourism and our contribution to the international prestige of viticulture in Lanzarote.
The article states that with over 250 years of history, EL GRIFO has managed to keep the winemaking tradition alive in a unique setting marked by the volcanic landscape, combining ancient techniques with organic farming and technological innovation. A pioneer in wine bottling since 1935 and promoting the use of stainless steel tanks in the 1980s, the winery continues to lead the sector thanks to its commitment to sustainability and the protection of Lanzarote's fragile ecosystem.
The awards ceremony will take place on September 25th at the Teatro Circo de Marte in La Palma , at an event that will bring together key players in the Canary Islands tourism sector. This recognition establishes El Grifo as an example of how tradition, innovation, and respect for the environment can come together to create quality tourism experiences and showcase the value of the Canary Islands' wine heritage to the world.
