To celebrate 250 years of our winery’s history, we have crafted a unique wine — a symbol of our legacy and of the deep connection between Lanzarote, its land, and our bodega.
It originates from a carefully selected group of parcels in Tinajo, one of the island’s coolest areas. The pre-phylloxera vines, averaging 60 years of age and planted in volcanic ash soils, give Malvasía Volcánica its unmistakable character. These exceptional conditions allow the grapes to retain balanced acidity and develop a complex and distinctive aromatic profile.
From the 2018 vintage, this limited edition of 12,600 bottles reflects the expertise gained through centuries of heroic viticulture.
Renowned artist Ildefonso Aguilar, a distinguished disciple of César Manrique, created for this occasion the painting “Bajo el Volcán”, which adorns the label of this commemorative wine. His work masterfully captures the essence of Lanzarote — its light, texture, silence, and the energy of its volcanic landscape.
An emotional and evocative wine, paying tribute to the island and to the legacy of those who, generation after generation, have made it possible for EL GRIFO to continue writing history since 1775.

Tasting notes
Un blanco de gran carácter, que combina frescura vibrante con la complejidad aportada por su crianza sobre lías y el paso por roble francés. Su acidez natural sostiene una estructura firme y elegante, mientras ala textura cremosa y los matices minerales reflejan con precisión el origen volcánico de la isla. Persistente y equilibrado, revela su potencial de guarda sin perder la expresividad de la juventud.
Elaboration:
La vendimia se realizó el 2 de agosto de 2018. Tras 24 horas en la cámara de frio de las cajas de vendimia, se prensó, manteniendo el mosto en desfangado estático 24 horas. Luego sembramos nuestras levaduras autóctonas recogidas previamente de nuestro viñedo y multiplicadas en nuestro laboratorio. Finalizada la fermentación se mantuvo turbio con sus lías finas, removiéndolas periódicamente durante 28 meses. En el 2021 se procedió a su embotellados con vistas a una larga crianza.
