The Wine Museum Bodegas El Grifo host on Friday 17 April at 20.00, a concert from Carlos Oramas. This concert is part of the program of CLAS-MU 2015 organized by the Youth Council of the City of San Bartolomé. The price is 5 euro and the Wine Museum will serve a snack between acts.
The repertoire is “a journey through the repertoire for vihuela, theorbo and baroque guitar in Spain and Italy between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.”
We give you some information about the musical career of Carlos Oramas:
Carlos Oramas discovered his interest in music through the folklore.
He studied at the Conservatory of Music of Las Palmas, in the Madrid Royal Conservatory, Conservatory of Luxembourg and Musickhoschüle “Mozarteum” in Salzburg (Austria).
It has been taught by Demetrio Ballesteros, José Miguel Moreno and Eliot Fisk among others.
He has been awarded in different competitions such as “Andrés Segovia”, Spain “Juventudes Musicales Award Outstanding Thesis”. As soloist has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Luxembourg and Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Greece, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland and Spain. He has recorded for Opera 3 (Madrid) and ASV (London) record companies. And on the 50th anniversary of the death of the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla recorded a CD with flamenco guitarist Oscar Herrero with a tribute to this Spanish musician. 1999 and through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the Spanish Association of International Cooperation, makes a tour through great part of the South American geography with a full program of Spanish music, performing in cities such as Montevideo, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile, La Paz, Brasilia, Curitiba, Asunción, … In 2001 he toured with the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra as soloist at venues such as Philharmonie (Cologne), and Tonhalle (Zurich), earning critical acclaim and audience. He has also given concerts including performances at the “Festival de Canarias” (2001), International Guitar Festival of Volos (Greece, 1998) Concert Tour of Castilla-La Mancha (1997) and Guitar Festival from the Canaries.
He has collaborate on projects with musicians from other styles and the result of this is his first album outside the classical field named “Caminos” (Multitrack 2002), where the musician moves from the influences of jazz and classical to folk music, plus guitars using traditional instruments canaries as timple, chácaras … “Caminos” is a work that can also reach beyond this volcanic country.
Because music has no boundaries. World music, in the case of the album “Caminos”, worth the verses of the poet Isabel Medina from La Gomera: “It is a country, is from here, where the sea reaches the end of any house, is the world … from here “.
